3. To tilt something, especially a bottle or other kind of container, at a forward angle. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "tip" and "up." I motioned for the bartender to keep tipping up the bottle of bourbon until my glass was completely full. I tipped the bucket up and poured the dirty water out into the gutter.
