thrust forward

1. To lunge, leap, or rush forward. The police officer thrust forward and grabbed the suspect by the arm. I thrust forward to shake the president's hand as he walked past the crowd of onlookers.
2. To push, shove, or coax someone forward. A noun or pronoun can be used between "thrust" and "forward." My friends thrust me forward when the street magician began asking for volunteers. We thrust forward our lead developer when the CEO asked who was responsible for the project.
3. To push or extend something out and in the direction of someone or something. A noun or pronoun can be used between "thrust" and "forward." The reporter thrust the microphone forward to record the president's statement. They thrust forward a contract for me to sign.
