To lose a match in a combat sport, especially boxing, intentionally. Usually done in order to take advantage of the bets placed on one's odds of winning. Other determiners and modifiers can be used instead of "a," depending on the context. I don't care how much money you're offering—I've never thrown a fight in my whole life, and I'm not about to start now! Judging by how easily she got knocked down, a lot of people are speculating that she threw last night's fight.
