Samples for
thin section production were taken from the reddish upper part of the Yarabee parna deposit and from the centre of the Willis parna deposit (Table 1).
Carbonate cements were investigated by using epoxy-impregnated
thin sections, cathodoluminescence, and SEM/EDX images.
They are relatively small and difficult to recognize in the
thin sections. In the described section of SML they have a low abundance.
The microstructures were counted in the
thin section area of 23 mm x 16 mm.
groenlandicus: (1) reading the external rings on the shell, (2) counting the growth rings on
thin sections of the chondrophore, and (3) counting growth rings of whole shell sections.
A microtome blade was used to produce
thin sections of southern pine sapwood about 200 to 250 [micro]m thick.
Sample 40PK27-1--The sherd from which this
thin section was made was initially described, in hand sample, as having a plain (non-decorated) outer surface tempered with limestone grit, primarily sand-size particles of crushed rock.
A detailed study was conducted after collecting systematically more than 30 rock samples in vertical thickness of aprox.31.45m and studying selecting more than 30
thin sections.
A similar procedure was adopted for the
thin section analysis.
Thin section examination of the xenoliths revealed pyroxenes intermix with olivine.
Under the
thin section, quartz and dolomite were found in trace amount in the form of fine-grains while chalcedony, crystobalite and other deleterious minerals were not observed.
Decreasing the amount of venting in the
thin section of the pattern had a dramatic influence on the occurrence of voids in that area.
However, all these parameters were not observable in
thin sections simultaneously; therefore, the identification is supported further by comparing the foraminiferal specimens of the Mughal Kot Formation with
thin section illustrations of the same species in standard literature (e.g.
