I (do something), therefore I am

Used to express some action or activity that defines one's very nature. Usually used humorously or sarcastically. Based on the model of the phrase "I think, therefore I am," the philosophical idea articulated by René Descartes that one's ability to think acts as proof of one's existence. When it comes to my brother, his motto has always been, "I drink, therefore I am." A: "You must have the biggest heart of anyone I know. How do you have the time and energy to look after so many people?" B: "What can I say? I love, therefore I am."
