To express or demonstrate gratitude to one for something they did, as by actually saying "thank you" or doing something in return. A: "Make sure you thank Jenny for her help, Tommy." B: "Thank you, Jenny!" John said he would fix up your car to thank you for helping him with his legal issues. Thank you for being such a good friend, Billy.
