To withdraw something or make it no longer available, as for consideration, acceptance, discussion, etc. I wouldn't wait too long to accept the job offer—they might take it off the table before you know it. For the sake of making progress in our meeting this morning, let's just take the issue of possible pay reductions off the table for the moment.
