stumble against (something)

To discover something casually or by chance. (An uncommon variant of "stumble across" or "stumble on.") While researching ways of boosting the immune system, the team ended up stumbling against a remarkable new method of treating cancer. Let me know if you stumble against my keys. I haven't been able to find them.
