squeeze up against (someone or something)
1. To move very close to and press against someone or something. I had to squeeze up against the window in order to fit on the tram. I really don't like dogs, so it made me nervous when Sally's St. Bernard came and squeezed right up against me.
2. To cause someone or something to move very close to and press against someone or something else. In this usage, a noun or pronoun is used between "squeeze" and "up." The trains get so busy in Japan that there are people whose job is literally to squeeze people up against one another until the doors can close. Let's squeeze all the furniture up against the walls so the kids have plenty of room to play their games.
