Someone who often engages in sedentary activities, usually understood as frequently watching television; a couch potato. "Spud" is an informal term for a potato. Lisa wants to date a man who loves to travel and try new things, not some sofa spud who stays home all day. I'm not letting you kids turn into sofa spuds this summer.
