To browse different stores, vendors, or selections to find the best price or option for something one wants to buy. They're offering the computer for $500, but I think I'm going to shop around a bit. I'm shopping around for a dress I can wear to Claire's wedding.

Ian Hughes from consumer insight firm Consumer Intelligence says: "Shopping around for car insurance has almost become a national sport, with people knowing they need to check their premiums every year to make sure they get the very best price.
