stick to the point

To persist in discussing the crux or essence of a particular topic or issue. Quit digressing and stick to the point! You're just wasting time with all your mindless rambling. It's a dry topic, so I try to stick to the point when I speak about it at conferences. Otherwise people tend to get bored.
