to confer with someone about someone or something. Jill has to see the boss about one of her office staff members. I will have to see Jill about getting permission to go.
see about someone or something
to investigate someone or something; to check on something that someone has said. I don't know who is going on the trip. You ask Jill, and I'll see about Jerry. I will see about your request.
