1. To utter a very loud, fierce, or piercing cry, shriek, or shout. She screamed out in pain as the car rolled over her foot. We were left screaming out in frustration at the news.
2. To shriek or shout something very loudly or fiercely. A noun or pronoun can be used between "scream" and "out." The search party moved through the woods, screaming out the missing girl's name. The prisoner screamed his innocence out as he was dragged away from the court room.
