To collect, assemble, or produce someone or something after a lengthy search or with a considerable amount of effort. A noun or pronoun can be used between "scare" and "up." I managed to scare up enough cash to get a bus out to Vancouver to see my girlfriend this weekend. How are we ever going to scare enough people up to form a team by this weekend? Go to the market and see if you can scare something up for us to eat.
