roll about

1. To roll and forth or aimlessly around (some place or thing). A paint can must have come loose in the back of the van—I can hear it rolling around back there! The poor man lay rolling around in the throes of a seizure.
2. To roll someone or something to and fro or all around (some place or thing). In this usage, a noun or pronoun is used between "roll" and "about." I'm fascinated watching this bug roll that little ball of poop about like that. The masseuse rolled me about on the studded mat to work out the tension in my muscles.

to move about, turning or rotating, as a wheel or a ball. The ball rolled about awhile and then came to rest. His eyes rolled about in amazement before he spoke.
