roam about

To move or wander in an aimless, ambling, unrestricted manner around (some place or area). Mr. Jackson is always roaming about the school after everyone else has gone home. I only had a day in London, so I just spent the time roaming about, trying to get a sense of the city. There have been reports of a bear roaming about the neighborhood, so be careful.

to wander or range about freely. Stay where you are and don't roam about. I'm too tired to roam around very much.
