requiescat in pace
From Latin, meaning "may he/she rest in peace," used in traditional Christian services and prayers as a wish for peace and rest for the soul of a person who has died. Most commonly used in its abbreviated form "R.I.P." on gravestones. "Requiescat in pace," intoned the priest during the funeral service of the young woman who had passed away.
