1. Literally, to press or shove someone or something in order to move them or it next to someone or something else. In each usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "push" and "together." Why don't we push together both the tables? That way, everyone can sit together. The police officers pushed us together against the wall.
2. To cause two or more people or groups to meet, unite, or become involved with one another, especially in a fateful, serendipitous, or accidental manner. It seemed as though fate had continued pushing together the two lovers despite the obstacles that stood in their way. The threat of the invading horde pushed the two kingdoms together into a precarious alliance.
