1. To shove, thrust, or otherwise propel someone or something forward or onward. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "push" and "along." Sarah pushed me along in my wheelchair through the streets of the city. You can push along the shopping cart beside me, if you like.
2. To carry on traveling, moving, or proceeding forward. We pushed along through the dense jungle in the hope of finding our camp before nightfall. Our entire team has been pushing along to get this project finished ahead of Christmas.

to apply pressure to move someone or something along. The mother tried to push her child along, but he wouldn't go. Jane pushed the cart along, down the supermarket aisle.
to move along; to travel along as with a purpose. We must push along. We have a long way to travel before morning. They pushed along at a steady clip until they arrived at their destination.
