1. To overextend or overstrain an unspecified muscle. Ouch, I think I pulled something lifting that box! You want to be sure to stretch and warm up before you exercise, or you might pull something.
2. To carry out an unspecified trick, deception, or con job (against someone). I have a feeling that he's going to try to pull something when we're not paying attention. Don't you try to pull something—I've got my eye on you!

Play a trick, deceive someone, as in We thought he was trying to pull something when he claimed he had never picked up our tickets . It is often put as pull something on someone, as in I knew he was pulling something on me when he told me the wrong date. Also see pull a fast one.
