To direct or force someone to move away from someone or something, often in order to discuss something privately; to take someone aside. A noun or pronoun can be used between "pull" and "aside." I pulled the nurse aside so that I could ask a few more questions about my dad's surgery. I pulled aside one of the waiters to complain about the service we received during out meal.

to grasp and pull a person to one side. I pulled the child aside and scolded him for trying to sneak into the theater. I pulled aside the child to say something to him.
