ptooie

(redirected from ptooies)

ptooie

1. An onomatopoeia of the sound of spitting. The silence was only broken by the ptooies of cowboys with their mouths full of chewing tobacco. I stood on the bridge above the bully and—ptooie!—shot a glob of phlegm down on top of him.
2. An exclamation of disgust or disdain, whether physical or moral. (As if the thing in question must be spat out). They want us to give up our weekends to finish this project? Ptooie, we say! Yuck, they put broccoli on my pizza! Ptooie!
