1. Of a horse, to buck from place to place. The horse pitched around wildly, as I held on for dear life.
2. In baseball, to intentionally throw balls, rather than strikes, in order to walk the batter. This guy's already hit three home runs—just pitch around him and put him on first. We can't risk giving up another run right now. They pitched around Smith with the hope that the next batter would hit into a double play.
