outguess (someone or something)
To try to anticipate or predict what someone or something will do or react in order to have an advantage over them. You need to be able to outguess your opponent on the field—otherwise, he will run right by you. It can be tempting to try to outguess the market when you get into investing for the first time, but that's a good way to lose a lot of money.
