THE National Stud drew around 250 people to the joint AGM held last month in Newmarket for its Owner Breeders' Club, which ended last year, and its replacement, the Never Say Die Club.
The Never Say Die Club's horses include Never Say Deya, a two-yearold filly bred by the Owner Breeders' Club; Marciala, a Machiavellian mare with a colt foal by the red-hot second-season sire Montjeu; and Least Said, a Trempolino mare with a filly foal by Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner Where Or When, whose first crop are yearlings.
The racecourse, which recently unveiled Betfair as the new sponsor for the oldest Classic, has announced that building and scaffolding firm SGB, and The National Stud Never Say Die Club, will each sponsor a race at the fixture.
The National Stud Never Say Die Club - named in honour of the 1954 Derby and St Leger winner, who went on to stand as a stallion at the Newmarket operation - will sponsor the Group 2 Park Hill Stakes on September 8, a race run over the same distance as the St Leger, but restricted to fillies and mares.
