1. Thoroughly inebriated, especially to the point of being stupefied. ("Sauce" is a common slang term for alcohol.) Everyone kept buying me drinks for my birthday, so I was fairly lost in the sauce by the end of the night. Don't worry about it, everyone was lost to the sauce last night.
2. Consumed by alcoholism, especially to the point of being rendered unable to function properly. I think poor Tom is lost in the sauce these days. 3. Ignored, forgotten, or neglected amid a larger group of people or things. 4. Consumed by some wild, chaotic, or confusing situation. She was only 16 when she skyrocketed to pop-music fame, and she later lamented that she had gotten lost in the sauce of that world. A true artist can separate themselves from the trappings of their successes or failures and continue to focus on the vision in their heart and soul—a hack will just get lost in the sauce.
