lay out for (someone or something)(redirected from laying it out for)
lay out for (someone or something)
To spend or invest some (large) amount of money on a particular person or thing. A noun or pronoun is used either before or after "out." But with students or their parents laying out tens of thousands of dollars for college tuitions, many have begun to question how necessary those degrees are in the first place. I'm not keen to lay several hundred dollars out for a house we're only renting.
