Two kinds of perpendicular lappers have been developed.
These are offered together with perpendicular lappers. The chambers consist of a certain number of heating sections depending on the required performance of the production line.
Some of these lines are equipped with rotary lappers, while others are equipped with vibrating lappers.
Usually a carded web is formed into folds using a perpendicular lapper. Due to the longitudinal layout of the carded web, the fibers take upright positions in the fiber batt.
The vibrating lapper was developed in 1989-93 and works at a maximum of 600 strokes per minute, which corresponds to the carded web intake speed of up to 30 meters per minute.
While modern cards produce carded webs at speeds of 50120 meters per minute, a new vibrating lapper featuring a working frequency of up to 2000 strokes per minute has been developed.
The rotary perpendicular lapper was developed in 19931994 to reach unlimited intake speeds in terms of modern cards.

Using aerodynamic technology, it is capable of replacing traditional mechanical processes requiring a carding machine and cross lapper
. The Lap Formair features a pressure control system capable of producing a fiber batt that is perfectly blended as well as perfectly even length-wise and across the machine width.
This happens when the carded web is delivered from the lapper
to the delivery belt during the reversing phase of the layering carriage.
