kick aside

1. Literally, to force someone or something to one side with a kick. A noun or pronoun can be used between "kick" and "aside." I carried the boxes through the house, kicking aside the kids' toys as I went. I tried to stop him from leaving, but he just kicked me aside.
2. To discard, disregard, or do away with someone or something. A noun or pronoun can be used between "kick" and "aside." I gave that company 30 years of my life, and now they are kicking me aside as if I meant nothing to them. They kicked aside my idea for something more cost effective.

1. Lit. to get someone or something out of the way by kicking. The bully kicked Timmy aside and grabbed our cake. I kicked aside the cats and came into the room.
2. . Fig. to get rid of someone or something. He simply kicked aside his wife and took up with some young chick. I kicked the old laptop aside and got a new one.
