To become involved or embroiled in some event, situation, or predicament. I make it a point never to intervene in other people's personal affairs. Someone needs to intervene in this situation before there's a fight!

to get involved in something. I will have to intervene in this matter. It's getting out of hand. I want to intervene in this before it becomes a major problem.
