(one) (has) never had it so good

One has never before had so much success, prosperity, or good fortune. Kids these days have never had it so good, yet they still complain about the tiniest thing not being they way they'd like it. It's been a bit of an adjustment having to start work so early, but in all honesty I never had it so good, so I don't mind too much.

The expression was probably coined by George Meany , a 20th-century American trade-union leader, but it was popularized in Britain by the Conservative prime minister Harold Macmillan , who used it in a speech in 1957 .
