have heard the last of (someone or something)

have heard the last of (someone or something)

To have had the final encounter with a certain person or thing. Often used in the negative to indicate that someone or something will be encountered again in the future. I doubt we've heard the last of Mr. Cramer. He frequently complains to our department. I hope I've heard the last of this stupid fight between you two.
