googly eyes

Small plastic discs that are typically used in craft projects as eyes. (The white background of the disc is fixed, but the black part can move, somewhat resembling the pupil of a human eye.) Often applied to any sort of puppet or cartoon that has eyes that move in a similarly "wild" manner. I have the kids putting googly eyes on pipe cleaners—that should entertain them for a while. Cookie Monster is known for his googly eyes.
