1. To decide not do something. Unfortunately, I had to give the party a pass because I had a migraine last night.
2. To decide not buy, acquire, or utilize something. Those headphones are very overpriced for the quality—I'd give them a pass. I'm afraid we're giving your company a pass this year due to budget constraints.
