get (one's) prescription filled
To go to or contact a pharmacy in order to buy the first dose or set of doses of a medicine as prescribed by a doctor. We can swing by the pharmacy on the way home from the doctor's office so we can get your prescription filled. Make sure you take your ID with you when you're getting your prescription filled for the first time.
