1. Literally, to begin obstructing or impeding someone or something. I appreciate that you're trying to help, but you're actually just getting into the way. The tree keeps getting into the way. We'll have to reframe the scene.
2. To become accustomed to something. I think you'll feel better once you've gotten into the way of doing your new job.
