fall together

1. To unite or coalesce, as for a singular purpose. The scattered bands of rebels fell together to launch a unified offensive against the monarchy. The heads of government around the world promised to fall together in order to tackle the issue.
2. To happen, form, or come to pass successfully from various different elements or efforts. Despite all of the last-minute chaos, the party fell together splendidly. Everything seemed to fall together for our team that day, and we achieved an incredible victory.
3. Of eyes, to close. This usage is obsolete other than in literary writing. The old man lay his head on the pillow, and his eyes fell together one last time. I was so exhausted that my eyes began falling together as I sat at the table.
