1. Forced to handle, deal with, or confront something. My meditation practice definitely helps me whenever I'm faced with a stressful situation at work. Faced with mounting pressure from activists, the government finally agreed to reverse its controversial policy.
2. Shown direct evidence of something. A man faced with incontrovertible evidence of his wrongdoing will still often try to find ways out of accepting responsibility for it. When I looked through her phone, I was faced with proof that the affair had been going on for months.
