To eat something straight from its box or container, rather than portioning it onto a plate. I can't eat chips out of the bag anymore because I always end up eating all of them!

to eat food directly from a container, such as a bag, box, can, etc. You shouldn't eat out of the can. Maria was eating potato chips right out of the bag.
