To finish something and move on from it. I can't think of anything else to add to this project, so let's just draw a line under it and start working on the next one.

If something draws a line under a bad situation, it allows the situation to be considered as finished. The document draws a line under our painful past and clears the way for a new beginning. An out-of-court settlement, expected this week, should finally draw a line under the affair.
