slang Excellent; fantastic. Often used as an interjection. Primarily heard in Ireland. I bought some deadly trainers on my way home today. A: "I bought us two tickets to Prague for next week!" B: "Deadly!"

1. adjective, slang Of an instance of flatulence, making no sound but having an extremely offensive odor. For some reason my farts are always silent but deadly.
2. noun, slang An instance of such flatulence. Someone let out a silent but deadly! Quick, open a window! OK, who's responsible for that silent but deadly?
the female of the species is more deadly than the male
proverb Women are dangerous. The phrase implies that women are more dangerous than men, likening them to animal species in which the female is more powerful or aggressive than the male. The phrase comes from Rudyard Kipling's 1911 poem, "The Female of the Species." Jane might look tiny, but she's a tough broad, and she brings that old saying to mind—the female of the species is more deadly than the male.
