cliché Said when one is awarded something or gets something correct. A phrase commonly heard on the game show Hollywood Squares, which was based on the gameplay of tic-tac-toe. Primarily heard in US. A: "I'm writing up the roster now. Who wants Monday off?" B: "I should get the day off. I've been working for six days straight!" A: "All right, circle gets the square." A: "Who can tell me the year that France and Britain signed the Treaty of Amiens?" B: "Um, 1802?" A: "Ding, ding, ding, circle gets the square! Nice work, Bradley."
