chip in on (something)

1. To contribute to some task or activity undertaken by a group. If everyone chips in on this project, we can clean this garage in pretty quickly.
2. To contribute some amount of money to some group collection or fund. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "in" and "on." We're asking everyone to chip in $20 on Mom's gift.
3. To offer money as a bet in a game, such as poker. In this usage, a noun or pronoun can be used between "in" and "on." How much did you chip in on this hand?
4. To join in a discussion about something; to offer one's thoughts on something. I had to chip in on that topic. I mean, they were discussing my own department!
