cap

1. verb, informal To outdo, surpass, or excel beyond. John always tries to cap other people's stories with his various tales of adventure.
2. verb, slang To kill someone, especially with a gun. I heard they capped Larry the Loudmouth after finding out he was an informant.
3. verb, informal To capitalize a letter or word. Make sure you cap the first word of the sentence.
4. noun, informal An uppercase letter. (Usually used plurally.) Please don't write your text messages in caps like that. It makes it seem like you're shouting at me!
5. noun, slang A bullet. That no-good lying piece of dog meat. I'm gonna bust a cap in his ass! They said they would put a cap in my head if I even thought about going to the cops.
