Can you/we say (something)?

Used rhetorically to emphasize or draw attention to something one thinks is the case. A: "Tom's out sick again, but I know he was at the pub last night." B: "Hmm, can you say 'drinking problem'?" It's no wonder he wasn't fired—just look at the friends he's got on the board of directors! Can we say cronyism?
