To fail spectacularly or to a great degree. Despite all the media hype, the major summer blockbuster really bombed out. He graduated at the top of his class, but his brother bombed out of college in just one semester.
slang Intoxicated. Do you remember last night at all? You were totally bombed by the time I got to the bar.
Destroyed by explosives. Rebuilding hasn't begun in that neighborhood yet—it's still all bombed out from the siege.
