be under (one's) feet
To be so physically close to someone as to be a nuisance or obstruction, sometimes literally as a tripping hazard. Usually said of a person or animal. I haven't been able to get any work done today because the kids have been under my feet, asking me to play or take them to the park. Our puppy is always under our feet when we're trying to move around the kitchen—it's getting a little dangerous!
