bang away at (someone or something)
1. To continue working on something, especially that which is very lengthy, difficult, or tedious. I feel like we've been banging away at this project for years now! I still have a lot of my thesis left to write, so I'd better keep banging away.
2. slang To speak continuously or at great length to someone (about something) in a foolish, tedious, or irritating manner. Primarily heard in UK. The boss keeps banging away at us to get the project finished, but I refuse to rush things if they aren't ready. What on earth are you banging away at me about now?
