nancy

(redirected from a nancy)

nancy

offensive slang A disparaging term for an effeminate, possibly homosexual, male. Don't be such a nancy, Jimmy—stand up for yourself and fight him!

Negative Nancy

One who is frequently or excessively pessimistic or discouraging. Though "Nancy" is a female name, this term can also be applied to men. Don't be such a Negative Nancy! Come on, we can do this, as long as we work together. I can't be around a Negative Nancy like Mel anymore. She really brings me down by constantly talking about all the problems in our society.
